In addition to the Quilt Auction which raised almost $8,000 for
American Red Cross hurricane relief and the 70 Christmas stockings
that fulfilled the request of Franklin Co's Head Start program,
the Guild provided the following items in 2005. CASA Lynchburg - 20 bears Amer. Red Cross/Katrina victims - 70 bears (plus quilt auction) Rocky Mount Police Dept - 25 bears Franklin Co. Sheriff's Dept - 50 bears Huddleston Rescue Squad - 10 bears Bedford R.E.A.D. program - 20 dogs Franklin Co. Hospice - 4 lap quilts Bedford Hospice - 29 bears, 2 dogs, 20 lap quilts Roanoke Rescue Mission - approximately 50 lbs. of toiletries Franklin Co. Resource Center - 10 bears Franklin Co. Head Start - 12 nap quilts, 20 hats, 20 gloves Bedford Domestic Violence program- 7 laps quilts, 23 bears, 25 gloves, 29 hats, child's knitted sweater. |

In the fall of 2005 SOUTHSIDE BEE members of the Lake Quilters Guild donated "Critters" to the Children's Dept. of the Franklin County Library in Rocky Mount. Pictured holding the quilt is Teena Livsey of Union Hall. Bee members worked on the quilt for over a year. The quilt was designed by Betty Hatfield. The quilt will be a permanent display at the library. |
