2018 LQG Charity Donations Year End Report from Betty Huffman The bears guild members made at the February Sew-in went to children in Bedford and Franklin County Hospitals ERs and Pediatric departments. Baby quilts with bears went to the Perinatal Center. Bibs went to nursing homes. Children's quilts (nap quilts) with fleece bears went to shelters in both counties. Lap or wheelchair-sized quilts, Pillow Pals, Fidget (sensory) quilts, have gone to Bedford Nursing Home & Bedford and Franklin County Hospices. Walker and wheelchair bags have gone to nursing homes. Larger Lap quilts/twin quilts with a pillow pal in a pillowcase are going to CASA, young people who are "aging out" at the end of the year. Bed quilts w/pillowcases go to the domestic violence shelters in both counties. Christmas stockings go to the 220 pre-school tots served by STEP.
Donations of fabric and notions have been shared at our guild meetings, with the left-overs stored away in crates for February's Sew-In and Bear-stuffing. Sensory and fidget quilts are in demand, as well as chemo caps. We will recycle your stash reduction into 2019's charity donations.
