Quilting Bees

Each month a different bee displays some of their work at the general meeting. Bee displays can be viewed in the slide show for that month on the Show & Tell page. View the 2010 Display Schedule (display schedule page also lists past displays and bee charity projects).

2010 Beekeepers: Chris Patane and Susan Dittler

Submit updates and/or changes for your bee to Chris or Susan by the 3rd of each month. If you wish to become a member of a bee, please contact Chris or Susan.

The following Quilting Bees are available to Lake Quilters Guild members:

BAG LADIES (MARY ANN'S) BEE (Moneta). Meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday at 10am at Mary Ann Spangler's home. Will be making favors for the Guild's 2010 Christmas luncheon. Will continue to work on charity items for children. Also, now using completed Friendship Squares to create other items.Full at this time.

BLUEWATER BEE (Moneta-Franklin). Meets at SML Quilting (Marnie Brush), 1st Tuesday from 10am to 1pm. at SML Quilting Shop. Contact Marnie Brush (719-7845). Working on School House Quilt Block of the Month Exchange and charity quilts for Bedford Social Services.

BUZZIN' BEES (Boones Mill). Meets at Velma Meador's home the 1st Thursday of month, 9am until ?? Bring lunch.
Full at this time.

FRIENDSHIP BEE (Hardy area) - meets the 2nd Tuesday, 9:30 AM to ??? Call Gloria Thar or Jeannette Chace for meeting location. Bring lunch. Bring anything you've started or want to start. There will be help for new quilters. New members welcome.

HARDY BEE (Moneta Area). Meets at Dot Jackson's home the 4th Tuesday of the month, 9am - noon. In September the bee will begin working on “row by row” quilts and continue making charity projects. Full at this time.

KEPT IN STITCHES (Hillcrest Heights). Meets at Alma Carter's home 1st & 3rd Thursday, 10am - 3pm. Bring lunch. Main focus for 2010: UFO's and Block of the Month.

LADIES OF THE EVENING (Wirtz area). Meets 1st & 3rd Thursday of the month at 6:30pm. Meetings temporarily suspended until new host/meeting location can be found.

MATERIAL GIRLS (Walnut Run) Meets the first & third Tuesday of the month, from 9:30am - 2:30pm. Bring lunch. Contact: Marcia Wright or Kate Holdgreve. Making quilts for each member. Full at this time.

RIVER QUEEN BEE (Goodview). Meets the 3rd Tuesday at 12:30pm at Jeanie Ireland's home. Working on UFO's, charity pillowcases for hospitals and battered women shelters, and a new technique/design for pocketbooks. Accepting New Members.

SASSY STITCHERS (Cave Spring area of Roanoke). Meets the 3rd Tuesday, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at St. John Lutheran Church, 4608 Brambleton Ave. SW. Contact Joyce Noell. Always open to new members.

SHADY LADIES (Moneta Area) Meets 1st Monday of the month, 1:30pm-3:30pm. Call Jan Hagen for winter meeting location. December 7th meeting will begin at 11:30am for luncheon at Jan's home. Full at this time.

SOUTHSIDE BEE (Union Hall area). Meets the second Thursday of each month. From 10am-2pm. Bring lunch. Contact Sandy Randall (daytime hours only) for meeting information. The Southside Bee is planning another retreat for March and will not hold its regular meeting that month. Full at this time.

STITCHES IN TIME (Goodview). This Applique bee meets 2nd Tuesday at 10 am. Call Kinza Pickelsimer for meeting location. Bring a sandwich. Hearts and Flowers blocks by Kathy Delaney. Full at this time.

SUNSHINE BEE (White House Corner/Huddleston) meets at Cindy Clark's home, 1st Thursday, 10am to 2pm. Bring lunch. Will not be meeting in February. Full at this time.

Regarding quilt show: Each Bee needs to be responsible for having someone from their bee set up and take down their bee's display before and after the quilt show. (Set up Thursday morning after 9:00 AM, and take down Sat. at 4:00 PM.) This person will also make sure any items belonging to their members are picked up and returned to them. Please let Sue Dittler or Chris Patane know the contact person for your bee either in person, by phone or by email as soon as possible.
