Material Girls Annual Retreat, Frederickburg, VA. View photo.

6-8, 2009. LQG Annual Quilt
Retreat 2009. This year's retreat was be held at the Quality
Inn Coliseum in Winston-Salem, NC. Registration was be limited
to 23 people. The retreat was co-chaired by Sandee Burt and Paula
Stevens.
*April
2009. LQG Beginning Basics
of Quilting Workshop. Paula Ulrich, Ellen Servidea and Carol
MacMullan, attended the third guild sponsored Beginning Basics
of Quilting (BBQ) workshop and the second one held at the home
of Kate Holdgreve. Paula, Ellen and Carol are all new guild members
and new quilters. They spent the week concentrating on fabric
selection, accurate measuring, cutting and piecing. By the end
of the week they had pieced 7-9 traditional blocks, put them
into either a wall hanging or table runner. Finally, they quilted
their projects. A Good time was had by all. Submitted by Kate

October 25, 2008. Mountain Comforts Quilt Show XX ~ 35th
Annual Blue Ridge Folklife Festival. Ferrum, VA. Lake Quilters
Guild members have been supportive of this event both by entering
their quilts and by volunteering their time. This was the 20th
Mountain Comforts show and the last year that Lucy Ricardo will
act as coordinator of the show. We are all grateful to Lucy for
all the time and effort she has put into the show over the past

entries. Normally I only photograph
the winning LQG entries, but for some reason this year I took
photos of all the LQG entries, plus a couple of extras. Several
other area guilds participate in this show and I certainly do
not mean to slight them, but I can only process just so many

of the 2006 Challenge Quilts exhibited at the Franklin County
Library. The slide show was originally
created in Power Point by Marilyn Amerson of Franklin County
Library and distributed on CD to the Challenge 2006 participants.
Each frame includes the song title and the name of the person
who made the quilt. Your webmaster has converted it to a PDF
file. The easiest way to view each quilt is to click the down
arrow on the right scroll bar. Click the arrow once to proceed
to the next quilt. There are 32 frames.
March 24, 2007
was National Quilting Day. LQG held an event to honor the occasion.
Guilds within a 100 mile radius were invited. It was held from
am to 3pm at Resurrection Church (Moneta). There were venders
and Augusta
Cole was the guest speaker. Sandy Horan
and Alba Papa created a raffle quilt made from irregular blocks-

February 22-25, 2007 Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival XVIII, Hampton,
Virginia. Thirty quilts from the LQG Challenge 2006 were on special
exhibition. The Challenge was entitled "There's a Song on
My Quilt." Each quilt represented a different song title.

Quilt Show presented by Old Church Gallery Quilters Guild. To

Comforts XVII Quilt Show, at Ferrum College was a great success.
