The Virginia Register for July & August is now available online (it's free) at http://www.countryregisteronline.com/Papers/VACURRENTISSUE.pdf. This is the newspaper we used to pick up at our monthly meetings.

The Smith Mountain Arts Council has a YouTube channel called SMAC-Tube where the community can share their artistic talents. Check it out at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkgNq0lbGbL2kaSh2y82QIA/featured. Those who wish to contribute a video (3-5 minutes) can email Karen DeBord (debordk@gmail.com) with a brief description of their video and receive info on how to submit it.

TAVA MaskParade: This is a virtual exhibit created by members of Textile Artists of Virginia (TAVA).The individual face masks and their respective garden settings were designed to suit the personality and preference of each artist. You can view these masks in their garden settings at https://blogs.lt.vt.edu/simplyelemental2020/category/tava-maskparade/. This is worth the visit. You won't be disappointed.

September 12-13. 2020 Quilt Show presented by Cabin Branch and Stone House Quilters at the Prince William Fairgrounds, 10624 Dumfries Rd., Manassas, VA. The show hours are Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 10-4. Admission is $8 for adults and seniors and under 12 free. There will be over 200 quilts on exhibit, merchant mall, silent auction, boutique, emporium, raffle quilts, quilt appraisals, scissor sharpening and ample free parking! September 25-26. Quilters Take a Moment is an all-virtual event created to stand in for the Alliance's Quilters Take Manhattan event, which was to be held in New York City, September 25-27. To ensure everyone's safety the celebration will be held as an online event this year. Live sessions will take place September 25 and 26, but live-streamed events will be recorded and available after the event for ticketholders to view via the web anytime they choose.

*Oct. 29-Nov. 1. LQG Members Retreat at the 4-H Center. Members only! 30 max. This event is still on! Cost is $255 per person (includes lodging- double occupancy, 8 meals, sewing room). 2021

May 5-6. Exploring Textures on Silk with Dyeing and Felting. This two day workshop with Vickie Clontz is filled to the brim with several dyeing and felting techniques using non-toxic dyes, including silk marbling, stenciling, ice dyeing, texturizing and resist techniques. Day 2 will continue the dyeing processes as well as starting on the layout of a unique fiber art piece. Wool bead, boro stitching and more will be demonstrated. $110 for members of The Quilting Party, TAVA, and Floyd Quilt Guild. $130 workshop fee per person for non-members. 6-hour workshop starts at 9:30 am. October 10. Bonnie Hunter workshop: "Jared Takes A Wife." Bonnie K. Hunter is passionate about quilt quilting, focusing mainly on scrap quilts with the simple feeling of "making do." The original quilt was made as a wedding gift using the traditional "Blackford's Beauty" block. Bonnie made it again in Greens, Golds and Purples and kept it for herself!

2022

April 28 - May 1. The Virginia Consortium of Quilters 4 day "Celebration of Quilting" retreat with national teachers will be held at SML 4-H Center. The organization is open to everyone interested in quilting, and members come from surrounding states as well as Virginia. Visit www.vcq.org for more information. Postoned until 2022.
